Type Locality and Naming
Kon Tum uplift in An Khe area, Qiang Ngai Province. Holosỉratotype - railway talus at the Binh Son Station (Quang Ngai Province) from milestone 908.8 to 912 km (x = 15°16’; y = 108°43’). Bui Phu My et al. 1999.
Synonym: - Hệ tầng Birth Sơn: Bùi Phủ Mỹ el al. 1999; Vũ Khúc et al. 2000, - Điệp Thọ \ãm (part.): Trần Đức Lương, Nguyễn Xuân Bao eí al. 1989. - Hệ tầng Đăk Rium: Nguyễn Văn Trang et al.-1995.
Lithology and Thickness
Holostratotype section has thickness of about 415 m including: (1) 316 m of a basal conglomerate interbedded with reddish sandy gritstone and medium-grained sandstone. (2) 100 m of greenish-grey fine sandstone and red-brown siltstone with interbeds of black-grey claystone with leaf imprints and silicified wood.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unconformable upon Precambrian metamorphic rocks in type area. Regionally, there is the middle Triassic volcanics of the Mang Yang Fm.
Upper contact
Upper boundary not yet observed. Regionally, the next younger unit is the late Miocene Song Ba Fm
Regional extent
Restricted distribution in the Binh Son District and Height 82 at Phu Hau (Qiang Ngai Province)
